Meow-mageddon - Update

Four of the kittens my friend Amy has been fostering have found homes. Still remaining are Stripey - previously listed as Kitten 4 of 6: Shoulder Climbing Tiger Striped Male - and Vlad, the tiny black kitten she found when he was only a day old.

STRIPEY - Look at this sweet face! You know you want to take him home.
Poor Stripey is feeling very lonely. Amy's cats don't want to have anything to do with him and Vlad is too little to play. He really needs someone to snuggle and play with.

VLAD - That fuzzy little belly just begs to be rubbed.
Meanwhile, Vlad is doing well. Amy reports that he has more than doubled in size. But she really needs someone with more time and kitten nursing experience to foster him.

If you can help find these two little sweethearts homes, please message Amy. You can find her on Twitter at @amyablume and on Facebook at Amy Blume.

It's Kitten Season 2: Meow-mageddon

The kittens are taking over!
Amy, one of my good friends from LA, is also big on rescuing cats. She and her husband, Jason, have 6 indoor cats at current count and she feeds some local ferals as well. Thanks to those ferals, they now have 6 more in the house, and they're desperately trying to find them homes.

I love this photo. Little pink nose looks like she's plotting world domination and little black nose is trying to hypnotize us into giving him treats.
Five of them were trapped along with their mothers. The mommas were spayed and re-released, but the kittens were old enough to be weaned so they are being socialized for adoption. Kitten No. 6 is only a few days old. Amy found him and a sibling on her porch. Her post on Twitter was both heartbreaking and funny:
So found 2 abandoned day old kitties. 1 dead the other in distress. Have been up evry 3 hours to feed & am officially dying. That is on top of trying to socialize five healthy kittens #deathbykitteninsomnia
Poor little baby needs someone to foster him.
The five older kittens have been checked by a vet and given a clean bill of health. The tiny one needs constant attention, of course, and Amy is hoping to find a good foster home for that one as well. On Thursday, she posted the following plea:
As previously posted, meowmaggedon has descended on Amy and Jason. The following are pics of the now adoptable. Please share and RT.
"It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!"

So, here they are. If you are in Southern California and need a kitten or two in your life or know someone who can help find these little ones forever homes, please send a  message to Amy. You can find her on Twitter at @amyablume and on Facebook at Amy Blume.

Meet Sandi

Sandi has the cutest black splotch on her nose.
I ran into Aggie from the Ivins Animal Shelter on Saturday. I mentioned that I now have room in my house for a couple of foster cats and she mentioned a calico who was having problems in the shelter. Aggie said she was a nice cat, she just seemed confused and scared by all the other cats and all the people coming in and out.

So, I went by the shelter this morning and picked up Sandi. Aggie doesn't know how old she is, but she is at least 3 years old. She has the softest fur - almost as soft as Diedra's - and her markings are stunning. And she definitely loves people. She has shown no fear of me at all, and was rubbing against me and purring as soon as we got to the house.

Sandi did some investigating, but I think all that water scared her.
She is a bit jumpy and scared right now, but she did do a little exploring. I will, of course, watch her over the next few days and see how she acclimates to the house and the other cats. So far, what I know is that she is a gentle little thing and she will make someone a wonderful pet.

Sandi is adoptable through the Ivins Animal Shelter. This shelter is no-kill and is always looking for new homes and foster homes for its residents. You can see more adoptable pets on the shelter's Petfinder page.
